Nic Taylor Founder / Creative Lead
Channeling his passion for education and collaborative spirit into everything he does, Nic brings a broad skillset to the creative process. Before Thunderwing, he worked at RCA Records, Eric Baker Design Associates, Chermayeff & Geismar, Publicis Groupe, Regan Books, and Grey / G2 (in that order), on branding, packaging, exhibitions, advertising and book design. He has written and art directed international ad campaigns, and also spent countless hours setting metal type by hand. He has taught typography and graphic design at the School of Visual Arts in New York for 8 years, and at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena. He has received numerous industry awards, but is most honored by the respect of his colleagues, the satisfaction of his clients, and dedicated work from his students.
JB TaylorFounder / Creative Director
Before forming Thunderwing, J.B. authored Vintage LA for HarperCollins and Life is a Movie Starring You for Warner Books. She has spent a lifetime obsessed with publishing and the printedword, starting with her home-published zine, Pesky Meddling Girls, which became a licensed brand through Warner Bros., followed by a monthly advice column in ElleGirl magazine (Hachette). She is currently editor of The Librarian — a website dedicated to her passion for books and private book collections, and she brings her creative guidance and encyclopedic cultural knowledge to all Thunderwing projects.
Nicholas Frisone Art Director
A native New Yorker who graduated from the School of Visual Arts in 2014, Nicholas has spent his lifetime cultivating a personal education and passion for visual communication, particularly in fashion and fine art. Nicholas has spent his early career as a designer for several fashion houses. In 2015, he helped rebrand Armani Exchange, designing their new logo, and has worked at Tadashi Shoji, Splendid, and as Art Director for Max Studio. Exploring the boundary between fine art and design, Nicholas has participated in group shows in Los Angeles and New York. He is the co-creator of several collectives, including HONAOK and Third World, both ongoing experimental design projects. Nicholas has a strong belief in the holism and enjoyment to be found in the design process.
